Biographical note

I am a Researcher in Mathematics Research Center (MaRC) of the Academy of Athens since 2020. I received my PhD from the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) at the University of Cambridge in 2009 and my ‘Habilitation’ in Mathematics from the University of Vienna in 2018. Prior to this I obtained by Diploma in Mathematics from the University of Patras in 2005, with the highest grade of that year (9.91/10). After completing my PhD thesis, I held Research positions in the Center of Applied Mathematics (CMAP) at Ecole Polytechnique (2009-2010); in the Laboratory of Probabilities, Statistics and Modeling (LPSM) at Universite Paris VII (2010-2011); in Radon Institute for Applied and Computational Mathematics (RICAM) at the Austrian Academy of Sciences (2011-2017); in DAMTP at the University of Cambridge (2017-2020). My research interests evolve around theoretical and applied aspects of asymptotic analysis and applications of complex analysis. They include analysis and solution of initial boundary value problems for Partial Differential Equations; fluid mechanics and aspects of the classical water wave problem; inverse problems, mathematical imaging, control theory; analysis of the Riemann zeta function and related exponential sums.

My work is displayed in 20 articles in international journals, 2 chapters in books and the Habilitation thesis ‘Asymptotic methods on fluid dynamics and certain biomedical problems’. I have presented my work in more than 30 occasions, with more than half of them being invited talks or seminars. During my studies I have received several awards: as a high school student for my performance in National Competition of Mathematics and Physics; as an undergraduate student for excellent performance throughout my studies in the University of Patras; full scholarship as a graduate student in the University of Cambridge. I have been Principal Investigator (2015-2017) in one Scientific Project funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF); participant in two Scientific Projects (2017-2020) funded by Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC, UK); I am Principal Investigator in a research grant funded by the Research Committee of the Academy of Athens since 2021. Currently, I am co-supervising a PhD thesis in the University of Vienna, a master’s thesis at the Hellenic Open University, and an undergraduate thesis at Bilkent University, Ankara. I have co-organized workshops and symposia, and I have made several short academic visits in universities including KTH Stockholm, ETH Zurich and Inha University, South Korea.
