Bureau of Modern Greek Art

The Bureau was founded in 1993 and aims to register and build up databases of works of Greek art from various fields of artistic creation (works of sculpture, painting and graphic arts, architectural works) dating mainly from the beginning of 19th century up to the present. The scientific study of this material will ensure the identification, protection, conservation, presentation and transmission to future generations of the cultural heritage situated in Greece as well as on other territories where Greek communities had flourished. The Bureau has launched a research programme for the identification, documentation and promotion of sculptures in the public space of Greek urban areas.
